With the legislative session in full-swing, I am excited to share brief weekly summaries of important bills, events, and district updates as we quickly approach our May 8th deadline. Below, please see information on the following:

✔️ Veteran Property Tax Relief ✔️
Last week, I voted in support of HB 5491 which offers municipal property tax relief for certain Connecticut veterans. Although this bill helps our veterans, I also recognize how this is another unfunded mandate for towns to implement without any state financial assistance, which is why I suggest incorporating state funding to help our small towns.
As a daughter of a veteran, I am proud to support this bill but I look forward to revisiting it to collaboratively provide relief, standing for the interests of both our veterans and our towns.
🍎 Securing Access to Youth Nutrition 🍎
My colleagues and I proudly supported bipartisan legislation that expands access to a federal youth nutrition program serving low-income families and children throughout Connecticut.
HB 5003 concerns funding the Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) within the fiscal guardrails, to address hunger and youth nutrition in Connecticut. With this legislation, I encourage all qualifying residents and families to enroll in the WIC program so that we can assure our children have access to necessary nutrition and parents are supported when navigating high prices at the grocery store.

A special thanks to all the members of the Stratford Delegation for their participation and support in making this a reality.
Some of the groups represented included Sikorsky Aircraft, Two Roads Brewery, CT Audubon, CT Air and Space Center, Raybestos Brakettes, Copps Island Oysters, Stratford Historical Society, Gaetano’s Deli, Boothe Memorial Railway Society, Helicopter Museum, and our Veteran’s Museum.
As a lifelong Stratford resident, I love my hometown and I want to thank all of the groups who proudly represented us and brought with them some of the things that make us the best town in the state!
