Sterling Community Center Holiday Open House

Share

November 30th from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M.

Open to the public

This year has seen big changes inside and out for Sterling Community Center, formerly known as Sterling House Community Center. The building itself underwent extensive restoration to preserve its historic beauty and functionality, while internally, rebranding took place to better reflect its mission and vision, plus the growth, impact and values that guide their work.

The research that influenced part of their overall 2019-2024 Strategic Plan plan determined that many of the activities offered to people of all ages occur at locations other than the building and grounds at 2283 Main Street. It was therefore decided that “Sterling House” would now be unique to the main office location, while the organizational name will be Sterling Community Center. Executive Director Amanda Meeson says, “It would be an honor to celebrate our accomplishments together. As Cordelia Sterling intended, this is Stratford’s Community House – come by for a visit!”

The public is invited for:

   •      Tours at 2:30 and 3:30 with Building Committee Chair and Architect Jamie Millward to highlight the restoration elements with a photo gallery of their progress and preservation.

   •      A vibrant gallery, presented by their partners at the Arts Alliance of Stratford.

   •      A holiday shop with “new merch” and original pieces of the historic slate roof will be available for purchase, complete with a certificate of authenticity.

   •      The kick-off of their Annual Tree Sale – Thanks to Shop Small Stratford, you’ll receive a newly branded mug and hot cocoa with each tree purchase.

   •      And of course music, crafts, cocoa, cookies, and more…
