Stratford Community Conversations Set for June 28th and July 19th

Stratford Community Conversations’ next two sessions are set for Wednesday June 28th at First Church Stratford and July 19th at Sterling House Community Center. Both venues are in the heart of town on Main Street, and both sessions will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Stratford Community Conversations is a new series that is bringing community members together to speak about issues in a positive, non-critical way and to gain a better understanding of other views about life in Stratford. Topics are generated by attendees. The program is organized and moderated by Greg Reilly, a resident and former editor of the Stratford Star.

“The generosity of the leaders at our host venues is just one indicator of the community spirit in Stratford and the interest in facilitating respectful conversations aimed toward collaboration and positive action,” said Reilly. “Sincere thanks to our new hosts at Sterling House and First Church Stratford, and also to the first three hosts that launched this public program – Stratford Library, Stratford United Methodist Church and Our Lady of Peace Church.”

All Stratford residents, businesspeople, community leaders, government leaders and staff, and others are invited to the Community Conversations. Attendees may simply listen or join the discussion. There is no charge to attend.

The first three sessions have had a total of 80 community members in attendance, and topics have included sidewalks on Broadbridge, tennis courts in Longbrook Park, the Shakespeare property on Elm Street, traffic calming, communications and cyber bullying, early voting, land use in Lordship, the sale and use of alcohol, residents policing themselves, and Stratford Museum Month.
