STRATFORD LIBRARY TEEN EVENTS IN SEPTEMBER

Monday, 9/16:  3:00-4:00 P.M.: Teen Open House: Attend this Open House if you are interested in learning more about volunteering in the Teen &/or uCreate Department this fall. The meeting will cover applications, registrations, responsibilities, & schedules. There will be time at the end to fill out & submit your applications as well as have your questions answered. Applications will be accepted between 9/16 and 9/28 to be considered for a fall position.  Applications will be available at www.stratfordlibrary.org/voluneer beginning 9/16. Space is limited. No late applications will be accepted. Location: Lovell Room.

Monday, 9/16: 6:00-7:00 P.M.: 5 Steps To a Successful College Essay: Faced with writing a college application essay, high school students often feel paralyzed by questions like these. But even the most hesitant students can ultimately answer the essay’s key question: how have my life experiences sparked the kind of curiosity and drive to learn that will enrich a college community? Mr. Howard of Finish Line Tutoring’s presentation will outline the five steps of research, planning, brainstorming, writing and revising that will help uncover each student’s answer. Locations: Lovell Room. Registration required.

Tuesday, 9/24: 4:00-6:00 P.M.: Teen Mental Health First Aid Training: Learn the signs & symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges.  Support your friends & connect with adult who can help.  Teens are certified after completion of three 90 minute classes. 
Thanks to Stratford Rotary this program is free. Ages 14-18. Registration is required. Location: Library Board Room.

Wednesday, 9/25: 4:00-5:00 P.M.: Con Sazon y Amor: Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration In-Person:
Hispanic Culture is well known for its flavorful food, beautiful islands, and rhythmic beats. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month let’s enjoy a taste of the food while listening to some tunes that will surely make us move our feet. Location: Lovell Room Grades 6-12. No registration required.

Thursday, 9/26: 5:00-8:00 P.M.: Agatha All Along Night: Join us for a bewitching good time as we watch Marvel’s Agatha All Along premiere! We’ll have tarot readings, witch’s brew, and spooky snacks as well. Grades 6-12. Location: Lovell Room. No registration required.
