ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a degenerative motor neuron disease. ALS United CT is located here in Stratford at 99 Hawley Lane, and serves those in the entire state who are living with ALS.
Throughout September, ALS United Connecticuthas had an incredible opportunity to double their impact through a special Walk ALS New Haven $50,000 Match Challenge.
Generously funded by Team Camille, the challenge will match donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000. These funds will go to helping provide critical programs and services for people living with ALS, their families, and their caretakers throughout Connecticut.
That $50,000 match means every gift given in September to Walk ALS New Haven works twice as hard, funding local care, research, and advocacy that over 400 Connecticut families rely on us for each year,” said Jacky Rose, Executive Director at ALS United CT. “We couldn’t be more grateful to Team Camille and to all the fundraisers and donors.”
The match is part of the Walk ALS New Haven event that will take place on Sunday, October 4th at Lighthouse Point Park. Participation, through donating and walking, will help provide essential support to families facing ALS today, amplify advocacy efforts on their behalf, and fuel promising research for tomorrow.
Individuals can participate in Walk ALS by registering as an individual, starting or joining a team, fundraising, volunteering or making a donation. Every step taken and every dollar raised makes a real difference, reminding the ALS community that they are never alone.
The October 4th New Haven Walk in-person registration is at 9:00 a.m., and the Walk begins at 10:00 a.m. The Westport Walk will be on Saturday, October 17th at Sherwood Island State Park, with registration at 10:00 a.m. and the Walk beginning at 11:00 a.m.
