Greg Sperling Honored

Veteran Highlighted for December

Greg Sperling has been a Connecticut high school football official since 1997. A retired United States Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 4, Greg was deployed 3 times, and the final time he came out of retirement to serve his country.

He’s a mainstay at the Stratford Veterans Museum, where he has reunited with his Bunnell High School football coach, fellow veteran, Bob Mastroni. The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference prepared this video on Greg.

The Historic Stratford Veterans Museum (SVM) is now decorated for the Boothe Memorial Holiday Open House and for the month of December. Admission is free. Cider & cookies will be served.

SVM Open Hours:

Wednesdays 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Saturdays    10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m.
Sundays       1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Monday December 16th     6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Our theme White Christmas is based on the 1954 Musical. The opening of this movie takes place on Christmas Eve in Europe, 1944, at the height of World War II. On the mantle is our display of “Letters to Home”. Included are Christmas cards written by our own Stratford WWII Veterans in November of 1944 who were stationed in Europe. On display is a 1944 Army WWII Christmas Meal Menu to more recent photos from Christmas Morning 2005, Camp Fallujah, Iraq.

We are still collecting letters, cards, pictures and any communication to display on the mantle or in our Christmas Letters to Home portfolio.

You are welcome to bring your beloved & historic memorabilia to share. Hope to see you during the Boothe Holiday Open House weekends or throughout the month of December.
