Looking for ways to attract birds to the yard? Get helpful tips and advice on how to make your yard into a bird friendly and pollinator paradise by native gardener and co-creator of the Longbrook Park Pollinator Garden, Marca Leigh, and Meredith Barges, co-chair of Lights Out Connecticut, at the Stratford Library workshop on Tuesday, April 23 at 2 P.M. in the library Lovell Room.

Birds can thrive right where you live by making your yard more bird-friendly. In the Library’s hands-on workshop, participants will pick up expert tips on how to attract birds to the yard as pollinators, nutrient spreaders, seed disbursers and year-round singers. Patrons will learn the basics of natural and less-toxic gardening methods, including choosing native plants and shrubs that local birds love, bird-friendly approaches to managing pests, and light fixtures that limit light pollution at your home.

Native gardener and co-creator of the Longbrook Park Pollinator Garden Marca Leigh and Meredith Barges, co-chair of Lights Out Connecticut, will lead the workshop.  Courtesy seed packets from the UConn Home & Garden Education Center will be distributed.
