Dear Neighbor,
We are about to say goodbye to March and welcome in April – longer days, more time outside with friends, with greater opportunities to build community.
In our issue this week, you will hear from a few new voices, including Bunnell High School senior Jayden Romero, who has joined our team of reporters and will cover high school sports for the Stratford Crier. We are excited to welcome back Pascale Joachim, whose book review this week of Gina School by Dr. Gina Barreca, will give you all the feels. Along with our regular columnists: David, Jim, and Luz. We hope you spend some time with their articles this week too—there’s always a lot to learn and enjoy with each of them.
We also hear from Captain Jerry Pinto of the Stratford Police Department, who we spoke with following the arrest of Jabari Bush, wanted for the murder of local firefighter Terrence Cramer. We acknowledge, honor, and respect the hard work of the police departments who came together to protect and provide justice for Cramer and his family. Our hearts go out to the people and families impacted by this tragedy, our local law enforcement, and emergency medical services.
Honest, straightforward news matters, especially this close to home. If you would like to join our team of reporters, and cover news that matters, please do reach out to me.
My hope for you is that you head into this week with a more enhanced view of what it means to be in community, with the community, and for the community. Local news matters!
