The SHS Cheer Team will compete in the CIAC State Championships this Saturday, March 2nd @ Trumbull HS at 9 a.m.  Two SHS Cheerleaders were named to the All-State Team this year. Willow Lengyel and Camella Rodriguez will be honored on March 27th @ Aqua Turf in Plantsville, CT.

The Stratford High School Boys’ Swim Team had 2 swimmers qualify for the SWC’s this Friday, Ty Faerdy and Gabe Rodriguez. Ty will be swimming the 100 meter breaststroke and 50 meter freestyle and Gabe will be swimming the 50 meter freestyle as well. We wish good luck to both of these gentlemen.

The SHS Dance Team finished third in the CIAC State Championships in the large Hip Hop category. They were invited to compete in the New England Regionals in Vermont.

Stratford High has also grown and promoted women’s wrestling, spearheaded by our stand out wrestler, Lindsey Rywolt. Just before the start of the season Lindsey earned herself a preseason All-American title. Lindsey competed in the Eastern States classic where she became champion, knocking off the 13th ranked girl in the nation. Even more impressive,  Lindsey won the Girls’ CIAC State Open Tournament, becoming the FIRST girl in Stratford High history to go All-State in wrestling. She is also a nominee for GameTime CT’s Female Athlete of the Week!

The Stratford High Wrestling team finished the year with an SWC record of 6-2. Justin Duhancik is currently ranked 11th in his weight class for New England. He placed 2nd in the SWC, 4th in the Class L State Tournament, and 5th in the CIAC State Open Tournament, which qualified him to wrestle in the New England Regional Tournament.

Stratford H.S.’s two-time All-State Golfer, Lauren Ogrodowicz, signed her letter of intent to play golf at Sacred Heart University next year. Lauren will earn 12 varsity letters in her 4 years at Stratford High as a member and captain of the Cross Country, Basketball and Golf Teams.
