Stratford Athletics continues to build momentum this spring, highlighted by strong performances across multiple programs.
Baseball
The Stratford Baseball team made a statement on Wednesday, April 22, traveling north to face crosstown rival Bunnell. The Red Devils delivered a dominant 15–0 victory, securing the Town Trophy in convincing fashion. Junior Jack Wiltsie was outstanding on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout. Offensively, Wiltsie, Julien Rivera, and Max Owen led the charge with multiple hits each. Additional contributions came from Cody Gallant, Josh Tiberio, Elijah Jimenez, Evan Wendland, and Jaykell Hernandez. Stratford returns home this Friday, April 24, hosting Brookfield at Penders Field at 4:15 p.m., before heading to New Fairfield High School on Monday, April 27.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The Girls’ Lacrosse team earned an impressive 14-2 victory over New Milford on Tuesday. Samantha D’Aloia led all scorers with 7 points, while Lauren Russo added 3 goals. Additional goals were scored by Sophie Estrella, Sophie Jackson, Audrey North, Kiara Moreno, Payton Farrell, and Sophie DeLise. In goal, Peighton Salerno recorded 8 saves in just her second start. The team will travel to West Haven High School this Saturday, April 25, for a 1:45 p.m. matchup.
Softball
Stratford Softball is off to a strong 6-3 start this season, including a split series with Bunnell. Morgan Letizia has been exceptional in the circle and recently reached a major milestone with her 200th career strikeout in a game against Derby. Ashlyn Tracy leads the team in hits and RBIs, while Riley Dicks has been a force on the basepaths with 17 stolen bases and steady play at shortstop. Adriana Colon has provided consistency behind the plate and is tied with Tracy for the team lead in home runs. The Red Devils host Brookfield this Friday, April 24, and will travel to New Fairfield on Monday, April 27.
