The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA has named George Perham of Stratford as the H. Richard Brew YMCA Volunteer of the Year Award for his outstanding leadership, experience, generosity, and passion for serving others to the Stratford YMCA and the CCCY for the past 25 years.

George is a member of the Board of Managers of the Stratford Y where he has served in multiple leadership roles including Board Chair, Board Vice-Chair and Annual Campaign Chair. As the Chair of the Stratford Y Board of Managers, he served on the CCCY Board of Directors. More recently, George has served on the CCCY Property Development Task Force and is a current member of the CCCY Property Development Committee.

In the 1960s, as a youth, George participated in the Stratford YMCA programs.  Driven by his personal history in the Y and his desire to give back, George reconnected with the Stratford Y in 2002 and quickly moved into a leadership role.

He developed and led the first Stratford Y Golf Tournament in 2005 and has generously led every tournament over the past 19 years. He is excited that this is his 20th year anniversary leading the golf tournament. His leadership, charisma, and tireless passion for helping others has led to hundreds of thousands of dollars being raised for financially disadvantaged kids and families in need of important Y programs and services.

An award-winning architect that is well known for the many outstanding public, commercial, and private buildings that he has designed, he was Vice President at Antinozzi Associates Architecture & Interiors in Bridgeport for 20 years with a total duration of 50 years.  In March 2021, George launched VIA Visionary Interiors Architecture in Norwalk where he is the Principal and President.

One of his most recent projects, the addition and renovation of Stratford High School, holds special meaning for George as it is where he drew his first architectural line in Drafting class.  It is where he developed a love of drawing and providing architectural design solutions for many private and not-for-profit clients.

The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA is a charitable, not-for-profit, community service organization dedicated to putting Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.  The H. Richard Brew YMCA Volunteer of the Year Award was established in 2005 to honor the thirty-five years of volunteer service to the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA offered by H. Richard Brew. Given upon his retirement from the Association Board of Directors, it is intended that his legacy be honored each year by presenting this award to a volunteer who has demonstrated character, commitment and long-term dedication to the YMCA.
