Formal afternoon tea parties rapidly grew in favor from the mid-1800’s through the early 1900’s, during the Victorian and Edwardian ages in England and the late 1800’s era known here as the Gilded Age. Plates of delectable finger sandwiches, lovely pastries and cookies, scones with clotted cream and berry jams and other scrumptious tidbits accompanied fine teas served in delicate china cups.
Now you don’t need a time machine to experience afternoon tea, or an invitation to the Mad Hatter’s party in Alice in Wonderland!
