Nicholas Samuel Vitino, age 90 of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away on August 25, 2023. Born on May 12, 1933 in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of Guido and Giovanna (Maietta) Vitino. Nicholas is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Monika Magg Vitino who he met in Germany when he served in the US Army.
Nicholas loved and cherished his family more than anything. He enjoyed spending time with them always, and put them first in everything that he did. He was a devoted and inspiring grandfather to his grandchildren who adored him, and lovingly referred to him as Opa. He was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed by all.
Nicholas worked at Western Electric/AT&T for 42 years. He was an avid fisherman, ping pong player and duckpin bowler among many other hobbies that he enjoyed. He also delighted in his church family of 60 years and was a cherished member of the New Apostolic Church. Nick loved community and helping others. He was a loyal and dear friend to so many. His light will shine on in our hearts forever.
In addition to his wife Monika, Nicholas is survived by his daughters, Marguerite, Susan, and Kathleen (Richard); sisters, Angie Creser of Bridgeport, Patricia Mooney of Stratford and Roseanne Angrisano of SC; grandchildren, Leah, Adam, Nicky, Steve, Robert, Lauren and Jon; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Johnny Vitino.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Nicholas on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 9:00am at the Dennis & D’Arcy – Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1530 Bronson Rd., Fairfield.
