Stratford Public Schools Family Partnership Fair

Stratford Families Given Information and School Supplies

The SPS (Stratford Public Schools) Family Partnership Fair, sponsored by the Board of Education, was held on Saturday, August 19th at Stratford High School, and by our eyewitness account it was a busy and fun event!

The main attraction was the backpacks full of school supplies that Sterling House Community Center was giving out free to pre-registered families. According to Amanda Meeson, Executive Director of Sterling House, some 350 were given. All we know is there was a fast-moving line out the door for several hours! Kids could choose from bright, sparkly patterns to a range of handsome solid colors.

Our Stratford Crier table gave us a chance to meet and sign up many new readers, and show off our snazzy new t-shirts, too!

We also provided an opportunity for people to register to vote, which was welcomed by a number of newcomers to Stratford, as well as Michael DeVitto, a young man from Bunnell High School who recently turned eighteen.

Many vendors attended to share information about a range of services from health-related to reading. The Bunnell Bulldogs football team was there, too, with Coach Ty Jenkins.

A-Team Music with DJ Strobe (Alfy Roby) provided background music, and once things calmed down a bit, the music was cranked up and folks had a good time line-dancing down the middle of the gym.

You can contact Sterling House Community Center at (203) 378-2606 for information on the backpack program and other activities available there for children.
