Dear Neighbor,
Happy Labor Day! Many people have the day off, and there are quite a few who do not. Labor Day is a federally recognized
holiday, and a time to honor the contributions, efforts, and struggles of the American labor movement.
In my article this week, I explore how and why Labor Day came to be. In Luz’s article this week, she translates her article about what a well-ordered life looks like, en Espanol. This coming Sunday, September 13th, Stratford kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations on Paradise Green with the return of the Latin Festival which is in its 21st year.
This week, on Thursday, September 10th, you’re invited by the Stratford Animal Care & Control from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to
join them in celebrating shelter cats and kittens which you can read more about in our events section of this week’s issue.
There is so much happening in town from Celebrate Stratford to Restaurant Week, check out Mayor Chess’s updates to stay
in the know.
Let’s welcome the change of season, and the cooler weather, with a commitment to being more neighborly.
