BOE Votes to Terminate Superintendent Dr. Osunde
4-3 Vote
The Stratford Board of Education, by a 4-3 vote along party lines, has decided to terminate Superintendent Uyi Osunde’s contract. A letter of dismissal will be sent to him and he will have 15 days to decide if he wants a hearing, and if he wants that hearing in public or in executive session.
There were no reasons shared by the Chair, Michael Henrick. He did say that at some point in the future, their reasons will be shared with the public so that the community can understand their reasons and have the information to make up their own minds.
Lisa Carroll-Fabian called the decision based on personal animosity with the Superintendent, and not based on any facts that would lead to a decision like this.
The meeting began at 5:30 PM. A vote was taken to go into executive session. That session ended at 6:45 PM. The Chair announced the decision, and the vote was taken. The meeting was then adjourned at 7:05 PM.
In attendance were eight people, including Prez Palmer and Lou Decilio, as well as Kathleen Callahan, the chair of the Stratford DTC; Stratford resident Kenneth Pugh, who has represented the NAACP in the past; and Michael Suntag, representing CARE and the Stratford Crier.
